HELLULAND

Synopsis

Something mysterious is happening in the far north…

Few notice when an illegal fishing vessel disappears in the Davis Strait, just another casualty of the unforgiving Arctic elements. But when a Russian nuclear submarine goes missing near Greenland, tensions quickly escalate between Moscow and the West. Thrust into this world of geo-political intrigue is young Erika Holstrom, a first year hockey player from the University of Vermont. As Erika travels north for her late mother’s memorial, the young woman and her friends are confronted by countless unexplained phenomenon, each more terrifying than the next. Now, as the melting polar ice releases its sinister secrets, Erika must convince the skeptical authorities what is really happening in the high Arctic, before its too late.

Helluland is a modern saga that blends the mystery of speculative fiction with the intrigue of a geo-political techno thriller. A combination of the Walking Dead meets the Hunt for Red October, the novel is a fast paced coming-of-age story, set against the backdrop of a supernatural murder mystery. Inspired by the realities of climate change, its shocking climax is both a moral condemnation of inaction and an unsettling prediction for the future.
